How to Prepare Surfaces for Painting with Farrow & Ball
Proper preparation is essential to get the best performance and finish from your paint. Before applying any product, ensure the surface is:
- Clean, dry and free from dust, grease, mould or algae
- Even, with any holes or imperfections filled and sanded

The Farrow & Ball System: Best Practice
Farrow & Ball paints are crafted for rich colour depth and exceptional light response. To get the best finish, we recommend the following application system:
Standard Painting System
- 1 coat of Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat (in the recommended tone)
- 2 full coats of your chosen topcoat
For Newly Plastered or Dry-Lined Walls
Start with a diluted coat of your topcoat colour to seal the surface. Follow with two full coats of the same colour for even coverage and durability.
